Intel Ships Fastest Celeron™ Processor for Value PCs

New Processor Is the Latest of Many New Intel Products for Low-Cost PCs in 1999

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 22, 1999 - Intel Corporation today announced the Intel® Celeron™ processor at 433 MHz, the fastest Intel processor for value PCs. This processor offers leading performance at an exceptional price, and it gives consumers the power to handle everything from the Internet to interactive games.

"Computers with the new Intel Celeron processor give consumers leading value PC performance and a great way to get on the Internet for around $1000," said Paul Otellini, executive vice president and general manager, Intel Architecture Business Group. "The production ramp of these processors has been the fastest in Intel history. We'll continue to aggressively ramp both the volume and capabilities of this processor family in order to bring more value to consumers as quickly as possible."

The Intel Celeron processor at 433 MHz is the latest in a broad range of value PC products such as processors, chipsets, motherboards and other technologies that Intel plans to ship to customers in 1999.

Product Features, Price and Availability

Intel Celeron processors are now offered at 433, 400, 366, and 333 MHz speeds (all with 128 KB of integrated Level 2 cache on the processor core). In 1,000-unit quantities, the Intel Celeron processor at 433 MHz in Plastic Pin Grid Array (PPGA) packaging is $169, and the Single Edge Processor Package (SEPP) version is $177.
